There are different kinds of treatments available for curing medical acne. The first step in curing medical acne is to first understand what it is and how it effects us as a person. If you are known to have extremely oily skin then most likely you are left to deal with acne. Oily skin and medical acne tend to go hand in hand. When you have a breakout of extremely oily skin, you know that the acne breakout is right around the corner. As you are probably aware, when the oil starts to get out of control, it clogs the pores in your skin and then pimples, whiteheads, or blackheads pop up. In extreme cases, cysts will be found on the skin as well.

FACTS YOU SHOULD KEEP IN MIND:

1. Blackheads are a combination of skin cells and oil that pool together on the skin.
2. Inflammation of the skin is most commonly referred to as pimples.
3. Whiteheads are a combination of white skin cells and other gunk that clogs the pores.
4. Cysts consist of liquid or half-solid gunk that migrates to the pores in the skin.

As you may have guessed, the skin that has the most oil glands is the most susceptible to acne breakouts. For example, there are an estimated 2,000 oil glands for  every square inch of forehead! Your body has the most oil glands on your face, shoulders, and chest area.

Just about anyone can have an acne breakout, however, in most cases we are more susceptible to breakouts when we are in our teenage years and our early twenties. It is not uncommon for middle-aged individuals or the elderly to have breakouts. It all depends on the amount of oil glands that a person has and if they have gotten clogged. This can happen at any age.

There are certain things that can contribute to breakouts occurring. These things are:

A)    Drugs, such as, injected or orally taken steroids, anti-convulsant prescriptions, or Lithium.

B)    Your Career Choice – depending on your choice for a job, you could be adding more oil to your skin. For example, if you work in an industrial setting and are in charge of oil cutting, this can actually cause more oil to pool upon your skin.

Homeopathic Acne Treatments

Many individuals have chosen to try to find a way to treat their acne without going the traditional medicinal route. Below are some of the most popular at-home treatments that have been shown to help in reducing breakouts.

1)    Clean the infected area of skin twice daily with a Benzoyl-Peroxide based wash. Make sure that the percentage of Benzoyl-Peroxide is 5%. If you happen to be allergic to Benzoyl-Peroxide, please substitute a 2% Salicylic Acid.

2)    Apply a 5% Benzoyl-Peroxide cream or gel to the affected area. If you are allergic to Benzoyl-Peroxide, please substitute resorcined or sulphur in place of the benzoyl-peroxide.

3)    Apply a Sulphur-based spot cream nightly.

4)    Switch to cosmetics that are completely oil-free and add a light moisturizer cream into your daily makeup regimen.

5)    Make sure that you consume a lot of citrus fruits to aid in the reduction of your acne.

6)    Consume ten to twelve glasses of water each and every day.

7)    Never pop, squeeze, rub, or irritate your pimples in anyway. Messing with them will only cause more inflammation, infection, and puss.

8)    Try to keep your stress level at an even keel so as not to fly off the deep end over things. Stress can add to your acne problems.

9)    Controlling acne is not an overnight treatment. You must be patient as some cases could take up to 8 to 10 months to clear up the issue.

Try not to overly worry about the fact that you have acne. It is a very common problem among millions of people. Remaining calm, keeping yourself educated on new treatments, and following through with the treatments you are currently using is the best way to stay on top of things and get the acne under control.
